Terms of Service
1. Acceptance
By using the site, the API, the console, or by contributing a device to the grid, you agree to these terms. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to accept on its behalf.
2. What the service is
Exa RAM pools memory, storage and processing capacity voluntarily contributed by independent devices, and exposes it through an API for allocation, retrieval, distributed computation and capacity reservation. Capacity exists only while contributors remain connected.
3. Accounts and API keys
Accounts are issued without identity verification. Your API key authenticates every request made with it, so keep it secret — you are responsible for all activity under your key. Ask us to rotate or delete a key at any time.
4. Contributing a device
- →Contribution is voluntary, unpaid at present, and revocable instantly.
- →Only contribute devices you own or are authorised to contribute, and only on networks where doing so is permitted.
- →While connected, your device stores other users' data chunks and may run sandboxed compute tasks from the fixed job catalogue. You may leave at any moment.
- →Contributed capacity is offered as-is. We are not liable for wear, bandwidth, electricity or other costs arising from your participation.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use the service to:
- →store or distribute illegal content, malware, or material you have no right to hold;
- →store personal data, health or financial records, credentials, or other regulated or confidential information — chunks are not encrypted at rest on contributing devices;
- →attack, overload, probe or attempt to deanonymise the grid, the coordinator, or any contributing device;
- →circumvent capacity limits, the reserve ledger, or another account's isolation;
- →mine cryptocurrency or run workloads outside the provided job types.
We may suspend access, remove data, or disconnect nodes that breach these rules or endanger the grid.
6. Availability, durability and data loss
The service is provided without any service level commitment. Pool data is replicated across two nodes and self-heals where capacity allows, but it lives on volunteered machines that can disappear at any time. If all nodes holding your data leave, that data is permanently gone. Maintain your own copy of anything that matters.
7. Reservations and metering
Reservable capacity is derived from capacity genuinely online at the time of the request, and reservations exceeding it are refused. Balances are metered against actual usage. Reservations confer priority over unreserved usage in the same tier, and an activated emergency reservation may cause unreserved allocations to be evicted. Reservations do not guarantee that contributors will remain connected. No fees are charged at present; any future paid plans will be introduced with notice and separate terms.
8. Your content
You keep all rights to data you store. You grant us only the permission technically required to operate the service: to shard, replicate, migrate between tiers, transmit and delete your data. You are responsible for having the right to store what you store.
9. Disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, durability, accuracy and non-infringement.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for lost data, lost profits or business interruption. Our aggregate liability arising from the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the preceding twelve months or USD 100.
11. Changes and termination
We may modify or discontinue any part of the service, and may update these terms; material changes will be reflected in the date above. You may stop using the service at any time.
